The one…down by the river!

For 16 years, we’ve been gathering on Pearl Street in Downtown La Crosse for some St. Paddy’s Day fun. It’s 95.7 The Rock’s annual St. Paddy’s Day .01K! That’s right – 32.8 feet to be exact. We call it the world’s shortest run/walk. Beside the silly fun of it all, proceeds from the event benefit the Hunger Task Force. Over the years, this event has raised more than $70,000 for the HTF!

In 2020 this event, like all things, was cancelled. This year we were determined to find a way, safely, to continue the long tradition of this St. Paddy’s Day fun and the goal of supporting our local food bank.

We worked in conjunction with the La Crosse County Health Department and the City of La Crosse Park and Rec Department and developed a plan. This year, we held the St. Paddy’s Day .01K … down by the river! Moving to Riverside Park allowed us more space for social distancing and we staggered the run over the course of a couple hours.

We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day and our community rallied to show their support. Thanks to partners, Paul’s Heating and Air Conditioning, Schneider Accounting and Tax, 1st Business Solutions, Brothers Bar and Genzie’s Gameday Pub, that helped make this special day possible.

Learn more about the important role the Hunger Task Force plays in eliminating hunger in our area and you might want to start your training now for next years .01K!
