Using Email to Keep Your Customers Engaged

Email marketing is thriving, engagement is improving and the benefits to marketers is increasing. Done the right way, email marketing can boost brand awareness, increase traffic to your website and ease subscribers through the customer funnel.

Email marketing isn’t new and neither are the challenges of growing and maintaining subscriber lists. Even with great email engagement or a winning formula for success, you could see subscribers stall or even take a dip. You might think people are bored with you or maybe went to your competitor for better content.

Eventually, some of that audience will become less and less engaged over time. It’s just bound to happen! Maybe their interests have changed, or maybe they’ve gotten busy. Regardless, you’ll need to re-engage these contacts and maintain a healthy email list to ensure you’ll get the best results.

When your email audience knows you only send relevant content, they look forward to hearing from you and staying engaged.

4 Tips to Drive Engagement

1.) Convey value in your subject lines. The first thing your customer sees in their inbox is your subject line. If the value isn’t there, they won’t click it! Remember to keep it’s subject lines simple and to the point.

2.) Personalize your content and offers. When emailing customers, personalizing is one of the easiest ways to keep subscribers opening and engaging with your content. It could be as simple as adding your customers’ names, or creating content based on previous purchases.

3.) Segment your email lists. Segmenting your lists based on demographics and purchase history can help maximize the relevance of your email content.

4.) Automate your emails. Automating some of your emails will help you create more personalized content to help boost engagement. Some examples are birthday offers, welcome offers, product re-targeting, and winning back lapsed customers.

Spam-like content and meaningless promotions are reasons people may unsubscribe.  They also don’t like to be surprised with unexpected solicitations filling their inbox.  It could be simpler than that – you may just be sending too many emails.
