Saying Goodbye to a Listener

This weekend I received text messages from several of our staff sharing the awful news that a long-time listener and friend of the station had passed away. His name was Jim Wemette. I’m not sure that anyone owned more 95.7 The Rock T-Shirts than Jimmy. He went to every concert, party, festival, you name it. If the radio station was there, so was Jimmy. I didn’t know him like a lot of our current and past staff did, but I sure saw a lot of him at concerts and even on a few of our Brewers bus trips. He was an extremely nice guy and our staff sure is going to miss him.

There are lots of memories of past station events… and ALL of them are memorable because of the people. The conversations that were had, jokes that were told, dumb things that were done, etc. This pandemic has made that even MORE obvious to us all. In a normal summer, someone from The Rock staff is probably out somewhere with listeners… 4 or 5 times a week. Take that down to zero for a few months and life is quite different. We’re all ready for it to be done. By this time next year, we’re hopefully getting ready for an Oktoberfest and catching up with old friends.

If you knew Jimmy, join us at Logger Field this Friday (9/4) for a celebration of life from 3-6pm. There will be a brief service at 4:30.
