Does Google Find You Attractive?

Looks aren’t everything. But when it comes to your website, google gets mighty picky. Google owns 75% of today’s search traffic. With constantly changing algorithms that effect how your site is displayed in a list of search results it’s difficult to keep up. If your listing isn’t on the first page of search results, it’s likely you won’t get any clicks. And even if you’re on the first page, a recent Sistrix study showed that the top 3 listings of the search results page get 55% of the clicks. The number one listing gets 28% of the clicks alone.

Don’t fret. You don’t need to know everything about Search Engine Optimization (AKA SEO). There are a few things you can do today to take steps to getting your website to the top of the search results page.

  1. Check Your Rankings. Set your browser to incognito or private mode and search for your business name as well as some keywords and phrases. See where your listing comes up.
  2. Start Tracking. If you haven’t already, setup Google Analytics for your website. Tracking results over time is a crucial component to see if what you’re doing is working. Key metrics to keep your eye on are referrals (so you can see how people get to your site), pageviews and sessions (which should generally increase quarter after quarter).
  3. Refresh Your Content. Google thinks sites that add new content regularly are interesting. Pick a few relevant keywords to focus on and be sure they show up frequently in your content.
  4. Reach out for Help! Go ahead and let us review your site to see where you rank. When you sign up for a free evaluation, we’ll use our tools to give you an expert snapshot of your placement and how your website is helping (or hurting) your results.

Make sure you’re seen! SEO helps your advertising work harder and allows you to stay ahead of your competition. If you have questions, we have answers.
