Country Boom or Bust

Why can’t La Crosse have something like this? Thought Jon Holthaus, while attending a festival in northern Wisconsin and so began the story of Country Boom. This is the festival experience you’ve been waiting for, nestled in the old golf course at Maple Grove Venues and close to home. Country Boom is all about creating unforgettable memories in key areas: music, food, drinks, venue and amenities. The festival prides itself on providing fun without the wait-times or chaos. It all comes down to the details like camping under the stars or shuttling in from La Crosse. It’s a gem, but it hasn’t always been easy.

Real Boomers (not to be confused with generational slang) remember how it started. In 2018, the rain, soft ground and thousands of fans combined to create a mud-pit of epic proportions. Imagine being covered from head to toe while trudging to the stage for Phil Vassar. It was not only expensive, but exhausting for festival organizers who worked tirelessly into the night laying wood-chips for Saturday’s shows. The rain also made parking in nearby fields impossible, so last-minute shuttles were quickly secured and coordinated. 2018 created considerable heartache for Holthaus and his team, but first year Boomers wear the experience like a badge of honor. It was unforgettable fun!

Sunshine and Kane Brown followed the muddy start, which was exactly what the festival needed 2019. It doesn’t get any better for fans or organizers. Fast forward to 2020 and, like everything else, it was Pandemic City. No events, No concerts, No Country Boom. Why is that important? Country Boom is a local business like any other. They need our support. If we want excellent restaurants, cute shops and country music festivals in our own backyard, we need to shop locally. Buy tickets, merchandise, tell your friends and best of all have some fun at Country Boom this year! It’s totally worth it. They booked an excellent line-up and all your friends will be there.

Country Boom 2021, presented by Morrie’s of La Crosse, is scheduled for Thursday, July 8 through Saturday, July 10 and includes fan favorites like: Diamond Rio, Jake Owen, Chris Lane, Travis Denning, Hailey Whitters, Trey Lewis and Angie K, along with several regional bands on small stages. Tickets are on sale now.

Bringing the soul of Nashville to the heart of the Midwest. See you at Country Boom!
